  Very well organised private tour through Sri Lanka  - For my first visit to Sri Lanka, I asked Drivers in Sri Lanka for a 12 days tour that covers as much as possible of cultural sites (e.g. markets, temples)... Read More and historical places, nature (including scenic train ride) and wildlife (safaris, elefant encounters and possibly dolphin/whale watching or turtles), and to suggest a round trip suited for the weather end July, ideally including the north (Jaffa), central highlands, wildparks. Within a few hours, Drivers in Sri Lanka set up a WhatsApp group for any further communication with me, and suggested an itinerary that typically covered 3 to 4 sights or activities per day, including suited hotels for each night. After quickly double-checking with recommendations from internet and guidebook, I was happy with the itinerary as suggested and with the offered package price for car with driver and accommodation and a train ticket, while not including entrance fees or meals other than breakfast where included in hotel rates. Payment was agreed for arrival at the airport, without any need for advance payment. The day before arrival, I was informed that Thiwanka will be my driver and will pick me up at the airport. Almost every day, the team of Drivers in Sri Lanka checked with me via WhatsApp whether everything is fine, whether I am happy with the driver or the hotel, or whether there are any issues. Overall very professional and well organised! Also the suggested itinerary turned out to be thoroughly thought through, with a great mixture of interesting sights and enough activities, like hiking to the top of a hill, to compensate for longer driving hours, or staying two nights at the same place where a day was fully packed e.g. with dolphin watching and snorkeling trips. The selected sights and activities for each day together with the driving time were well balanced to fully fill the day but without time pressure. With this tour, I could see as much of Sri Lanka as I hoped, and I am very happy that I relied upon Drivers in Sri Lanka for organising the tour.

My driver Thiwanka did a great job in not solely driving me around as scheduled, but in fact caring for me the whole time, from punctual pick up in the morning until final drop off at the hotel, sometimes only after still driving me to a dinner place and back. Thiwanka made sure that the tour went smoothly as arranged by Drivers in Sri Lanka, be it in interaction with the hotels, the jeep drivers for safaris, boat drivers or local guides. He never pushed for anything but always asked what I wanted, while providing all the information for allowing me an informed decision. In addition to carefully driving me around, and Thiwanka is indeed a very safe driver, he also accompanied me for almost every sight or place, so I always felt comfortable and was never lost. While for some of the sights it was good to have a specialised local guide familiar with specific details, for which I always could rely on Thiwanka's suggestions, for many other places no extra guide was needed because Thiwanka can explain so much not only about the sights but much more generally about history, religion, culture, people and life in Sri Lanka. I also learned a lot from him about fruits, vegetables and dishes of Sri Lanka, and agriculture and many other things. Overall, if anyone is looking for a professional and knowledgeable driver speaking good English and well able to explain and guide through Sri Lanka, I definitely can recommend Thiwanka.
