Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Colombo

On arrival in Sri Lanka you will be met and assisted by our Airport Representative, who will direct you to your very own Chauffeur to transfer you to Colombo – the commercial capital of the country.
Once you check in at your hotel relax and recover from any jet lag. If you have spare time your chauffeur will introduce you to the sights and sounds of Colombo.

Drive through the commercial and city centre known as the “Fort”, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century where grand colonial era buildings stand alongside modern office structures. See the vibrant markets and bazaars of Pettah, and the National Museum with its fine collection of lovely antiques and art of Sri Lanka. You could visit a Buddhist temple and a Hindu Kovil to experience the diversity of religion, ethnicity and customs of the people. Alternatively you may indulge in some shopping.

Overnight Stay: Hotel in Colombo.

Day 2: Mirissa

After breakfast leave for Tangalle. Located 195kms south of Colombo. A tranquil paradise surrounded by beautiful white beaches and calm seas. The perfect beach destination to, immerse yourself in blissful serenity. Also a fishing port and a centre of tourism. In the centre of the city is the old Dutch Fort which is used as a prison at present.

After drive to Mulkirigala.

Mulkirigala is an imposing rock structure with remarkable cave temples, located 21km north from the town of Tangalle in the district of Hambantota. The ancient rock steps lead the visitors through a series of natural caves, with unique wall paintings & Buddha statues, and on to the summit. This enormous boulder known as ‘little Sigiriya’ rises perpendicularly approximately 200 meters out of the surrounding palm forest. The Mulkirigala Viharaya is a Buddhist temple complex that ascends and crowns the rock. It is a temple of great antiquity with fine murals. In one of these rock temples, the British colonial administrator, George Turner, discovered an ancient manuscript, Mahavamsa the great chronicle, in 1826.

Day 3: Udawalawe National Park Jeep Safari

After breakfast leave for Udawalawe. UDAWALAWE NATIONAL PARK lies south of the central hills in the island’s dry zone. An important eco-tourism destination, the Park consists of dry lowland forest, riverine forest, thorny scrublands and grasslands. One special attraction of the park is the Udawalawe reservoir and the Walawe River which flows through the park. It is most famous for the many elephants that live in the park besides the elephants it is also home to water buffalo, spotted & barking deer, wild boar, sambar, jackals, mongoose and more. Though the leopard, jungle & fishing cats have been spotted in the park sightings are very rare. This fascinating park is also a great location for bird enthusiasts.

Day 4: Mirissa – Whale Watching

Rise early morning and leave for Mirissa, a small sandy tropical beach village which boasts some of Sri Lanka’s most stunning sunsets and sunrises. It is also on the worlds ‘Top Hot Spots’ for Sperm and Blue whale sightings. In the warm Indian Ocean you can see Blue whales, Sperm whales, Common dolphins, Bottlenose dolphins, Spinner dolphins, Risso’s dolphins and Striped dolphins. Take the boat from the fishery harbour out to sea. Blue Whales in concentrations not seen elsewhere in the world would be the highlight. After seeing the blue whales, your naturalist will take you further out to sea to look for sperm whales.

Day 5 & 6: Tuk-Tuk Ride Around Tangalle

Touring around in a tuk-tuk is one of the best ways to experience the towns and cities of Sri Lanka; allowing you to take in the sights, sounds smells and sensations of the country. A ride in a tuk-tuk will help you achieve that goal. It’s a lot of fun, feeling the wind on your face and through your hair as you make your way through the traffic, often reaching your destination in quicker time than if you went by taxi. Tuk Tuk’s are in plenty so you can get one at any time.

Day 7 & 8: Yala

After breakfast, descend from Sunny Beach to the jungles of Yala.

On arrival in Yala, check in at the hotel. In the afternoon commence your journey on jeep safari in the Yala National Park by a private jeep accompanied by a tracker. Yala National park one of Sri Lanka’s premier eco tourist destination is renowned for its variety of wildlife notably its many elephants. It is also home to the spotted deer, sambar, wild buffalo, sloth bear, jackal, mongoose and crocodiles. The peacock is easily the most famous of the birds in this park. Yala has a high concentration of Leopards although seeing these nocturnal carnivores still requires some luck.

Enjoy your day at your hotel or you could opt for a tour.

Day 08
Optional: Maligawila & Katharagama                                              

After breakfast leave for Maligawila. The Maligawila statue dates back to the 7th century BC. It is the largest freestanding image of Lord Buddha in Sri Lanka, reaching a height of about 14 meters and is carved out of a single block of limestone. A second statue lies close by and depicts the Bodhisattva in princely attire. On completion continue to Katharagama and commence a sightseeing tour of the sacred city. Visit the Kiriwehera temple and Mahadevalaya.

Day 9: Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya En route visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens where a rare collection of tropical exotic and indigenous flora including the famous Orchid House could be viewed.

The beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya, set in the heart of Tea country and situated 1890 meters above sea level, is where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne.

This City is patronized by many tourists visiting the country mainly in the festive season which is in the month of April, some of the attractions at this time is the Radella Races, Motor Races, Hill climb, Golf Tournaments and Exotic flower shows. The streets of Nuwara Eliya is buzzing with excitement, street hawkers, food stalls, horse riding and many more at this time.

Day 10: Horton Plains

After breakfast head for Negombo, via Kandy or via Kithulgala.

Options going via Kandy :

Option Temple of the Tooth Relic     

After breakfast leave for Kandy and visit the temple of the Tooth Relic. It is the prime monument, the supreme edifice not only of the Sinhalese Buddhist populace of Sri Lanka but also of the Buddhists all over the world. It is within this magnificent temple that the sacred Tooth relic of Buddha (Danta Dhatu), the palladium of the Sinhalese nation & Buddhist faith is enshrined.

Option : Pinnawala – Elephant orphanage                                               

On completion visit the Elephant orphanage. This orphanage was set up by the government to take care of baby elephants lost or abandoned in the wild. Witness the feeding of the elephants. Thereafter observe them as they take their daily bath in the river nearby, which affords marvelous photo opportunities. Bath time is enjoyed by all elephants, young and old alike and it is a good time to closely observe their tightly knit family structure. Daily feeding times – 9.15 am, 1.15 pm, and 5.00 pm. bathing times – 10.00 am, 2.00 pm, and 4.00 pm.

Option going via Kithulgala : White water rafting

After breakfast leave for Kitulgala a small town perched on the hills that slope down to the flowing waters of the Kelani River. The main attractions include white water rafting, trekking and the Kelani Forest Reserve a popular bird watching location.  Enjoy a thrilling day of white water rafting.

Overnight Stay : Hotel in Negombo.

Day 11 & 12: Negombo

After breakfast leave for Negombo. Visit the Dutch churches, perhaps take a boat ride along the Dutch canals or enjoy the beach. Located on the west coast of the island at the mouth of the Negombo Lagoon, Negombo is known for its massive fishing industry. The International Airport is close to Negombo.

Negombo is also famous for cinnamon, ceramics and glassware.

Day 13: Negombo to Airport

Now that you are at the end of your journey with us, after breakfast your chauffeur will comfortably take you to the international airport in time for your departure flight.
